At the lower end of the Roaring Fork Valley, at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and The mighty Colorado River, Glenwood Springs is nestled amongst the surrounding mountains. Just an hour’s drive from the world famous ski resorts of Aspen, Snowmass and Vail, and a historic resort in its own right, Glenwood Springs continues to be the most popular tourist destination for Coloradoans. Home of the largest natural hot springs in the world, the Glenwood Hot Springs is a huge draw year round. The Glenwood Caverns and Adventure Park has only added to the endless list of activities that Glenwood has to offer. Of course, Glenwood Springs has its own ski area, Sunlight, which is the perfect resort for families.
Space is at a premium in Glenwood. The historic downtown still has many of its original Victorian homes dating back to the late 1800s. Newer subdivisions have sprung up over the years, filling out the valley floor. These communities within the greater community each have their own feel and include Glenwood Park, Park West, Park East, Cardiff Glen, West Bank, the golf course community of Ironbridge and out of town there are quieter subdivisions such as Elk Springs, Pinyon Mesa, 4 Mile Ranch, Sunlight View and Oak Meadows.
Annual events such as Strawberry days, Ski Spree and the summer of Jazz add vibrancy to life in Glenwood Springs.
Glenwood Springs has all the amenities associated with city living; the award winning Valley View hospital, 2 campuses of Colorado Mountain College, and the new Meadows shopping center provides big city shopping to this small Western Colorado city.
